Barry struggles to train the overzealous Nora, who is hired as a CSI intern to spend more time with her father, much to Iris ' discomfort. Caitlin and Ralph try to help Cisco after his breakup with Gypsy, and Cisco eventually agrees that he needs to move on. Caitlin refuses to pursue the idea that her father may still be alive, despite Ralph's insistence. Cecile begins to lose her telepathy and struggles to communicate with her child, not being able to recognize his thoughts. Meanwhile, a new meta named "Block", who can create blocks of dense air, steals weapons from his old gang, and while trying to stop it, the team first encounters Cicada, the masked man who killed Gridlock. He stabs Block, but Nora manages to get her away from the crime scene. Cicada then uses his dagger, which he has telekinetic control over, to neutralize the team's forces, brutally beat them, cut Cisco's hands, and almost kill Barry before Nora chases him away. Cisco vibrates Caitlin after learning that her mother is involved in her father's disappearance. Iris reveals that she was investigating the masked man, and the team discovers that Nora already knows about him.
