Eric Fry, a metahuman with fiery powers, tries to rob the Central City Bank. Another meth bus named Matthew Kim touches Fry, which causes his powers to go to Jaco Birch. When Joe, Iris, and Barry arrive to ask Kim some questions, Barry and Iris make contact with Kim, causing Barry to lose speed and Iris to gain superspeed. Inspired by Thawne, Harry plans to build his own mind cap to outsmart Devo. After switching roles, Iris becomes the hero of Central City speedster, and Barry must learn to act as the leader of the team. Burch demands money and terrorizes the city with his fiery power. Using Wells ' thought cap, the team comes up with an idea for Iris to create a tidal wave that negates the flame and defeats the Birch. Back at S. T. A. R. Labs, Kim touches Iris and Barry again, restoring Flash speed. At home, Iris admits that while she loved having super speed, Central City needs Barry's light, and she's happy to be the team leader. Wells uses his thought cap again, determining that the last two bus metas are Janet Petty and Edwin Gauss.
